Two options for completing this route are presented. If creating a combo platter with other canyons in the area the route is rated 3B III using the Canyon Rating System. If you intend to do this route in one long day the canyon is rated 3B VI using the Canyon Rating System.
In normal conditions this canyon has the ability to hold a large amount of water and full wetsuits are required. You will encounter several sections of wading and swimming. The route contains several fun rappels. A GPS is useful and good map reading skills are essential.
Bon Appétit Canyon is usually completed in combination with one or more other routes. Top Chef, Neon, Ringtail, Baker and Choprock are all located in the same general vicinity along the Escalante River. The typical combo platter is to backpack down to the Escalante River, set up a base camp, and complete multiple canyons over several days.
The trailhead is accessible to all 2 wheel drive vehicles in normal weather conditions. A vehicle shuttle is not required for this route.
